Torwood Gardens
Torwood Gardens is situated just out of Torquay Town Centre on Babbacombe Road. You will find it by walking away from the Clock Tower and Harbour area in the direction of Babbacombe, and look to your right after approximately 150 metres. It is known as a quiet area, which has very colourful spring flowering trees and plentiful palms.
Torwood Gardens was one of the first parks in Torquay provided for public use. Originally called 'Public Gardens' they were leased by Sir Lawrence V Palk to what he termed "the inhabitants of the neighbourhood". Annual subscriptions were paid to him through a private committee which he had set up for the gardens upkeep.
There are no leisure facilities in the park but is an ideal location for young children to play in safety, away from the traffic on Babbacombe Road.
