Can I have a seat?
The Memorial Seat Scheme is open to all those who wish to participate and not confined to the commemoration of the recently deceased. The minimum cost of a memorial seat starts at £550.00 and will vary according to the type of seat, its location and the memorial inscription.
Can I have it at a specific location ?
New memorial seats can be installed in place of existing un-dedicated seats. Unfortunately we are unable to install additional memorial seats in areas which do not have any un-dedicated seats for removal.
How long will the seat be in place for?
Seats will normally remain on site for a period of ten years, after which time they become available for re-dedication by the council. Seats may be removed prior to this if they become unsafe, or unacceptable from an aesthetic or policy stand point. If a seat has to be removed, we will make every effort to inform the donor.
Do I have to maintain the seat / plaque myself?
No. The plaques are subject to patternation from the weather and will be restored, by the Council, as and when other work is carried out to the seat.
