Torquay visitor pontoons are approximately 1 kilometre from Torquay Town centre and even closer if using the new bridge. In town there are many pubs, shops, restaurants, banks etc. On Beacon Quay itself there are several marine related businesses including a cafe and restaurant for visitors to enjoy. There is also the new Beacon Quay Whitbread pub situated on the quay-side with a veranda upstairs ideal for watching the Maritime Events from.
Living Coasts
The new Living Coasts attraction features a range of fascinating coastal creatures from loud and loveable penguins to playful fur seals, colourful puffins to sea ducks.
There are reconstructed beaches, cliff-faces and an estuary. A huge meshed aviary allows the birds to fly free over your head, while special tunnels give stunning crystal clear views of the birds and seals underwater.
You are then able to relax in the water-side café with its stunning views across Tor Bay, where you can enjoy morning coffee, lunch or a real Devon cream tea - all with the best view in South Devon.
Royal Torbay Yacht Club
The well renowned yacht club was formed on 1st January 1885 by the merging of the Royal Torquay Yacht Club and the Torbay and South Devon Club. It was in 1886 when the club held its first regatta. The Torbay Royal Regatta is now a well known regatta seeing boats attending from all over the country. In 1993, it was agreed that the members of Torquay Rowing Club who had been neighbours in the harbourside premises, should also become members of the Club and have continued to be so since.
Please visit the Royal Torbay Yacht Club website for details of becoming a member. Alternatively, please call the Club premises on Tel: +44 (0)1803 292006.
