Brixham Harbour - Out & About

A walk around the harbour’s edge will find several restaurants and bistros serving delicious locally caught seafood.  There are numerous small quaint pubs to be found throughout the town where you will also find locally caught seafood on the menu.  

Also around the Inner harbour you will find local artists painting and on Strand Quay a statue of Prince William of Orange commemorating his landing in 1688 when, supported by a Dutch invasion force of nearly 15,000 he set out to restore the throne of England to Protestantism and was in due course crowned as William III.

The Brixham Yacht  Club, found just up the hill past the fish market has a bar and restaurant for evening meals and its burgee includes a crown with an orange in the hoist in recognition of Prince William of Orange.

The town itself retains much of its original “fishing village” atmosphere.  The pedestrianised central shopping area houses small cafes where the famous “Devon Cream Teas” can be purchased together with locally produced pasties.
