Residents in Torbay are being sought to join the Local Access Forum. The Forum gives residents and those who use Torbay for walking, cycling, and horse-riding the opportunity to participate in improving and examining policies for access to the countryside.
The Forum has been set up as part of the legislation introduced under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 and is part of the statutory duty of Torbay Council.
The Local Access Forum covers the whole of Torbay. Forum members are being sought in addition to Council representatives. The Forum is anxious to receive nominations from groups or individuals involved in land-owning/farming, countryside users and representatives of tourism, business or other relevant interests.
The Forum would like to include a balanced cross-section from these groups and membership is open to all sections of the community. All interested residents are welcome to apply.
Forum members must be able to seek consensus wherever possible or, if there are differing views, to be able to suggest how they might be resolved.
Membership of the Forum is on a voluntary basis but travel expenses for official meetings and training events or childcare costs will be met.
If you are interested in the challenging and wide ranging remit of the Forum, please contact the Local Access Forum Secretary for details and an application form.
