The Forum gives people who use Torbay for walking, cycling and horse-riding the opportunity to participate in improving and examining policies for access to the countryside and public open spaces.
You do not have to live in Torbay but would be expected to devote the necessary time to research local matters of interest and bring them to the Forum.
We are particularly interested in people who have experience of the following:
- using public rights of way or accessing land for recreational purposes;
- managing land over which public rights of way of access land subsists; or
- tourism, outdoor education, sport and recreation, disability awareness, local business interest, health promotion, wildlife conservation, cultural heritage, public transport or community safety.
We would like to include a balanced cross-section from the above groups and all those interested are welcome to apply.
Membership of the Forum is on a voluntary basis but travel expenses and childcare costs will be met for official meetings and training events.
If you are interested in the challenging and wide ranging remit of the Forum, please contact us by phone on (01803) 207013 or 07786 856057 or email torbaylaf@torbay.gov.uk
The application form and an explanatory note are available below together with a copy of the Handbook for Local Access Forum Members published by Natural England.
