Torre Abbey Venue Hire

Torre Abbey has various rooms, the Spanish Barn and areas in the grounds available for hire by individuals and organizations for private functions such as weddings, receptions, concerts, dinners, lectures and meetings.

The Ballroom, Dining Room and Spanish Barn will be licensed for weddings however this is not possible in the chapel for legal reasons. The chapel can be used for a blessing following a formal marriage ceremony elsewhere in the Abbey.

Torre Abbey is a Grade I Listed Building and Scheduled Ancient Monument. The Spanish Barn is also a Grade I Listed Building lying within the grounds of Torre Abbey. Any proposed use for these premises must be approved by the Head of Museum Services as being consistent with the well-being of the Barn and the Abbey precinct, and the official and public nature of the site There are strict restrictions on the types of drinks and foods that can be served in the Abbey in order to preserve the historic fabric of the building and its contents.

Spanish Barn - available from September 2008

• £300 per day Low Season - last 2 weeks in September to the end of April.
• £500 per day High Season - May to the end of the second week in September.

Up to 150 people seated for a formal dinner and 300 people seated for a concert. 50% of charge for each day of set-up and break down.

Wedding bookings are not taken from the beginning of November to the end of March as the Barn is too cold even with space heaters.

Ballroom (formerly the Mayors Parlour) - available from March 2009

• £70 per hour (daytime and evenings)
• £300 per day up to 6pm and hourly rate thereafter.

Up to 60 people (not all seated)

The Dining Room - available from September 2008

• £70 per hour (daytime and evenings) - discounted to £50 per hour if hired with other rooms.
• £300 per day up to 6pm and hourly rate thereafter.

50 people, subject to tight restrictions on use owing to contents and availability.

Chapel - available from August 2008

• £70 per hour (daytime and evenings) - discounted to £50 per hour if hired with other rooms.
• £300 per day up to 6pm and hourly rate thereafter.

90 seated in the pews plus 10 on extra chairs (not including the officials and the couple if it is used for a wedding blessing).

Long Gallery (subject to use for art exhibitions) - available from September 2008

• £250 up to 6pm, £70 per hour thereafter.

150 people, subject to tight restrictions on use owing to contents and availability.

Tours

• Group Rate is £4.50 per adult and £2 per child during normal opening hours.

Evening tours can be offered in conjunction with a drinks reception and light buffet using the entrance and undercroft areas and parts of the grounds - further details and prices will be available shortly.
