These results are based on the results of nationally co-ordinated surveys which are used to make comparisons between local authorities. Up to 2006 the General User Satisfaction Survey was carried out every 3 years and asked questions about the performance of the local council. In 2008 the survey was renamed the Place Survey and expanded to include services provided by partner agencies such as the police and health authority, this survey is planned to run every 2 years.
Place Survey (2008)
The Place Survey provides information on people's perceptions of their local area and the local services they receive.
The survey collects information on 18 national indicators for local government, used to measure local government performance for 152 county councils, metropolitan district councils, London boroughs and unitary authorities.
