Food Waste
Good For Your Waste Line, Good For Your Wallet!
Do you ever find yourself throwing away food and wishing you had found a use for it?
National research has shown that we end up throwing away a third of the food we buy and this costs the average household £420 per year. In Torbay this equates to over 9,000 tonnes of food going to landfill. What a waste!
The good news is that there are some simple steps we can all take to cut down on the amount of food that is thrown away. This will reduce our impact on the environment and help to save money.
The Eat Well, Waste Less book is full of great recipe ideas for using up leftovers and practical suggestions for reducing food waste. To request a FREE copy of the book, email
sustainability@torbay.gov.uk or telephone Torbay Council on 01803 207751.
