What is Take a Stand?

The Mission

In an attempt to tackle environmental crime (or enviro-crime) such as littering, graffiti and other forms of anti-social behaviour, the council decided to create a campaign with a single mission… to clean up Torbay! The campaign aims to encourage local residents and businesses to Take a Stand against enviro-crime and work with the council to keep Torbay clean and safe. Those that ignore the rules may have to Pay the Price, either in the form of a Fixed Penalty Notice (for £75 in most cases) or even a prosecution.

The Mighty Six

The Take a Stand campaign focuses on six key issues:

  1. Litter
  2. Food Related Litter
  3. Gum
  4. Dog Fouling
  5. Cigarette Butts
  6. Flytipping

Over the coming months The Bay Team will be out and about in Brixham, Paignton and Torquay, raising awareness of the damage that enviro-crime can have on the environment and the wider community, along with advice and tips on how people can dispose of their litter and other waste responsibly.
