Adopted Devon Structure Plan 2001-2016

The Adopted Devon Structure Plan 2001 to 2016 is now available.

About the Devon Structure Plan

The Devon Structure Plan 2001 to 2016 was adopted by the Structure Plan Authorities within Devon on 8th October 2004. This document supersedes the Structure Plan First Review (1995-2011).

It sets out the strategic planning framework for the development and use of land to 2016 for the administrative areas of Devon County Council, Plymouth City Council, Torbay Council and Dartmoor National Park. Following the granting of Unitary Authority status in April 1998, Torbay became a partner in the Structure Plan preparation process.

Together with the Adopted Torbay Local Plan (1995-2011), the Structure Plan provides the Development Plan for Torbay. It's policies and proposals provide the basis for key Local Plan policies such as housing and employment. The Explanatory Memorandum sets out the Structure Plan policies and proposals together with appropriate supporting text, while the Written Statement contains only the policies and proposals without any explanatory text. The Key Diagram illustrates the general location where the policies apply.

Next Stages

Under the new planning system, the Structure Plan will be replaced by the Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS).
