How to Submit Applications
You may submit your application in any of the following ways:
- online via the Planning Portal
- by post to Planning Services
- by hand to the Planning Services reception at Roebuck House
Design and access statements:
From 6 April 2010, the Government is expanding the range of development that is exempt from the requirement for a design and access statement. The list below confirms the new requirements from 6 April 2010. The paper form checklists and electronic Planning Application Requirements (PAR) list will be amended at 12:01am on the 6 April to reflect these changes.
Design and access statements will be configured as mandatory for the following scenarios:
- Householder + Conservation Area
- Householder + Listed Building
- Full + Conservation Area
- Full + Listed Building
- Listed Building
Design and access statements will be configured as optional for the following scenarios:
- Householder
- Full
- Outline with Some Matters Reserved and Outline with All Matters Reserved
- Full + Advertisement
Design and access statements will be configured as not required for the following scenarios:
- Conservation Area - This scenario is for conservation area consent to demolish, which is not a planning application; DAS is still required for planning permission in conservation areas
- Advertisement
- Lawful Development Certificate - Existing Use and Lawful Development Certificate - Proposed Use
- Prior Notification - Proposed Building and Prior Notification - Telecoms
- Hedgerow Removal
- Prior Notification - Proposed Demolition
- Approval of Reserved Matters
- Removal or Variation of a Condition
- Approval of Details Reserved by Condition
- Trees - TPO & Conservation Area
- Extend time limit of existing permission
- Non-material amendment to existing permission
The design and access statement changes are explained in the Government guidance, Guidance on information requirements and validation, published 16 March 2010. Users of the Portal will also be able to access DAS information from the site.
Submitting a Major Full Planning Application
The Council encourages pre-application discussion before the submission of major planning applications.
Checking Your Application
Please make sure you have checked the appropriate validation checklist before submitting your application. Please note: If you do not send all the information we need your application will be deemed invalid.
Personal Information
Documents submitted for consideration in respect of planning applications (for example: documents submitted as part of an application and representations relating to an application) are made available for inspection by the public, and can be viewed on the Council's website, including personal information such as names and addresses which form part of the Statutory Register. If you do not wish your email details or telephone number to be viewed please enclose on a seperate piece of paper marked 'sensitive'. Signatures can be redacted on request.
Avoid any details that could compromise your own security such as holiday dates or times when you will not be on the premises. On electronic communications do not show your email address or phone number if you do not want these to be viewed. Please clearly specify in your documentation any personal information that you do not want placed on the web site. We will write to you should we require further information.

Building Control and Minerals applications are not included in the current implementation of 1APP.
