Investing in the Future

The School Meals Service continues to make improvements to our school kitchen facilities. Schools have also been making improvements by using some of the grant money provided by the government.

The investment has over the years included:

• Slicers and food mixers.

• The replacement of many general catering items including ovens, refrigerators, freezers, etc.

• The provision of dish washer systems at Barton, Ellacombe, Sherwell Valley, St Margaret’s and Preston schools.

• The conversion of Oldway and St Marychurch serveries into production units.

• New kitchens or Serveries at Eden Park, Brixham CoE Primary and Nursey, Homelands, Collaton St Mary, Sacred Heart, Torbay and Mayfield Schools.

• New ventilation systems at Ellacombe, Babbacombe, Chestnut and Watcombe schools.

• Upgraded facilities at the following schools:

• New facilities will soon be available at Foxhole School as a new school is in the process of being constructed and will open in September 2008.
