Choice Advice

Information and support for families to help you through the transition from primary to secondary school.

About the service

Choice Advice is a free impartial service for families. The choice adviser is available to support parents and carers who would like assistance with information about secondary schools and the application process.

The Choice Advice Service  will assist you by providing basic information about the secondary schools you are interested in, help with completing the application form or applying on-line. The Choice Adviser is also able to inform parents and carers about other support services which may be helpful to them.

What can the Choice Advisers offer?

  • Provide free, impartial, confidential advice on the secondary transfer process.
  • Explain how the equal preference system works.
  • Provide information about schools including prospectus and special facilities available.
  • Help with form filling or on-line applications.
  • Provide information on Ofsted reports
  • Help you to make realistic and informed additions.
  • Provide information on Special educational needs facilities and provision within mainstream schools.
  • Details on school uniform policy
