Continuing Professional Development
From 1999 – 2005, Torbay operated its own dedicated centre for the professional development of school staff in the local authority and beyond. The centre was located at South Devon College in Torquay and was highly regarded by course leaders and delegates alike.
Ofsted described it as 'an excellent venue'. South Devon College moved to new premises elsewhere in Torbay from September 2005 and establishing a professional development centre on the new site was not possible. We are currently planning a new centre in the Town Hall in Torquay which will be created as part of some remodelling of accommodation.
In the meantime, courses and conferences in the Torbay programme are provided at several different venues around the Bay. Details are available in our CPD online system, accessed from the professional development page.

CPD Library
As a temporary measure the Professional Development Library is located at Oldway. The books may still be borrowed from the library although please note that computer software and large books are currently unavailable for borrowing. Books can either be sent out in the school courier or collected from reception at Oldway
