Services to Parents, Teachers & Pre-School Leaders
There is a wealth of books, information and advice in all Torbay's Libraries for parents, carers, teachers and pre-school leaders. For example, there is a wide range of books for children's homework and leisure needs, books to help children and families through difficult times and situations, collections available to pre-school groups and classes, leaflets on helping children to read, advice from specialist staff on encouraging the reluctant reader and much, much more.
Sharing Books and Literacy
There are lots of leaflets and guides available on encouraging children to enjoy books and reading. Trained staff are on hand to offer advice on selecting books for children of all ages and abilities – just ask.
Helping Reluctant Readers
Trained staff in branches can offer advice on titles that may appeal to reluctant readers. The Young People's Services Librarian is also able to provide further information on titles and can supply details from recommended reading lists. Torbay Family Information Service
Torbay Family Information Service is available on the internet and can be accessed at all the libraries in Torbay. It provides parents, carers and employers with information about childcare throughout Devon and Torbay. It also holds details of uniformed and interest groups and lists activities taking place throughout the school holidays.
