Nurseries

There are a number of nurseries in Torbay, many usually offering daycare from 8am to 6pm. Children from birth years to 5 years can be accommodated and some take children from 0 years to 5 years.

Staff are trained and qualified whether looking after babies (1 staff to 3 babies), 2 year olds (1 staff to 8 children) or 3 – 5 year olds (1 staff to 6 children).

Parents of 3 and 4 year olds are able to access the nursery education grant (for more information – click here ) as staff are trained to teach the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum that is taught in nursery schools. If children stay for full time care (5 days a week) parents will be required to pay for the extra time over and above the education sessions – the Tax Credits can assist to cover the cost (visit our page on Tax Credits for more information).

All nurseries are registered and inspected by Ofsted to ensure the level of care and education is appropriate.
