Torbay has recently undergone a corporate assessment and the outcome of this inspection was announced in a report in May 2007. The corporate assessment is one element of the overall CPA framework and the results of this most recent inspection will inform our revised star rating in February 2008. The inspectors rated the council as ‘performing adequately’.
The report notes that the council is now a stronger community leader and services for local people are improving. It highlights that the council and its partner organisations have a strong vision for Torbay of ‘A clean, safe and prosperous Bay’. The aim being to develop Torbay, through economic regeneration, attracting new businesses and more tourists, into a safe, fear-free and tolerant community, which is a great place to live and work, underpinned by good quality education for everyone. The report says that “…this is a challenging agenda and the council is already delivering significant major regeneration developments…”
