When it is decided by the individual scrutiny boards that a matter should be explored or investigated, a special panel of Members is set up to conduct a review.
A review panel will look at information and consult with various people and organisations from a non-political point of view. This might be done through site visits, consultation activities and meetings.
When the panel has considered all the information presented, a report is published which contains the findings of the review and the recommendations of the panel. The review report is considered by the appropriate scrutiny board and then forwarded to the relevant decision maker (for example the Mayor in consultation with his Cabinet) for a decision to be made based on the panel's recommendations.
Details of which reviews will be conducted in 2008-09 is available in our summary work programme leaflet which can be found on the work programme web page.
The public are welcome to attend most review panel meetings. Meetings open to the public can be viewed on the Meetings Diary page. If you have a specific review panel that you are interested in becoming involved with, please contact the Scrutiny Support Team. For more information about how you can get contribute to a review, check out the Get Involved page.
