Brixham Town Council Regeneration Committee
To comprise 6 members of the Council. The Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Council are ex officio members of the Committee. The Committee shall be responsible for the election of the Committee Chairman annually.
- To support town and other area based regeneration.
- To liaise with other local groups involved in the regeneration of Brixham, such as and invite outside members onto the subcommittee.
- To consider, review and comment upon regeneration projects being proposed for Brixham.
- To maintain an overview of the activities and propositions for the whole community and the delivery of the pertinent 106 agreements and to respond to all consultation documents.
- To liaise with BM21, Torbay Council through the TDA, and the selected Contractors to Torbay Council to monitor the impact of regeneration on the Town and its’ economy and, in conjunction with the Planning Committee, to represent the interests of the Town to the appropriate body.
- To monitor the impact of all phases of the development on local transport systems including highways and parking and to make representations for enhancements or alterations to the appropriate Authority; maintaining a detailed overview of the timing of works to ensure that the impact on the local economy is minimised.
- To consider the economic development of the district and the promotion and retention of employment opportunities including commerce and tourism.
- Ensure mechanisms are considered that enable equal access to training and employment.
- To liaise with the Contractor or his agents to assess the local employment opportunities created by the development itself and to ensure that local secondary schools employment advisors are kept informed
- To consider integrated, efficient local and regional transport systems, including public transport, cycling and walking.
- Membership to be 6 Councillors, including the Chairman and Vice Chairman with a quorum of 4 members to be appointed annually. In addition, those Councillors appointed to the Board of BM21 shall be co-opted if not otherwise members of the Sub-Committee.
- The Town Clerk or assistant Town Clerk to service the Committee and undertake any correspondence required.
- To report back to the Planning Committee.
