Your Partnership
The Safer Communities Torbay Team was established as a result of the Crime and Disorder Reduction Act 1998, whereupon it was deemed that nationally the police and local authority were both jointly responsible for reducing crime and disorder in local areas.

The Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) aim is to involve local people and organisations to successfully improve the quality of life of residents, visitors and workers.

Further information can be found on the Safer Communities Torbay website.

Campaigns:

  • Domestic abuse is any violent or abusive behaviour towards you by a person known to you.  This is usually from a partner or ex-partner or even a close family member.  Domestic abuse can take many forms.  Nobody has the right to abuse you physically, sexually or emotionally.  If this is happening to you, you are not alone.  You are not to blame, do not suffer in silence, as there are people who can help.
  • The Know the Code campaign promotes safe and responsible drinking in Torbay.  Research was conducted called No Limits to find out about young people's drinking in Torbay and their views regarding alcohol. The results have provided important information with regards to the risks that young people are taking as a result of their alcohol use and the impact this may have on local services.
  • Torbay Neighbourhood Watch has a vital role to play establishing and maintaining schemes; ensuring that all members act on all information given and returning information to the Police so that we can all tackle crime together - in partnership.
  • Stay Safe is a multi-agency initiative to meet the needs of any person in Torquay's Harbour side area. It is a first point of contact for those whose well-being is threatened by: inability to get home, illness or injury, emotional distress, or other vulnerability.
