Public Weighbridges
The Weights & Measures Act 1985 requires that operators of "Public Weighing and Measuring Equipment" made available for use by the public and for which a charge is made are certificated. The certificate is issued by the Chief Inspector of Weights & Measures for the authority. It is only issued when the Chief Inspector is satisfied that the operator has sufficient knowledge for the proper performance of his duties.
In Torbay there are only two Public Weighbridges. These are located at:
