In accordance with the provisions of the Gambling Act 2005 (Licensing Authority Policy Statement) (England and Wales) Regulations 2006, Torbay Council gives Notice that the Gambling Policy has been published and available from the 3 January 2007 at the following offices and libraries:

The Gambling Act requires Torbay Council to undertake is to produce a Gambling Policy, this it has done see related documents.
The policy is written in compliance with the Act, Regulations and Guidance. Torbay Council would not be able to prohibit gambling, even if it wished to do so. It’s role and that of the Gambling Commission, is to ensure that gambling is provided in such a way that it complies with the three licensing objectives. These are
The purpose of the policy is to advise the residents and businesses of Torbay, as well as those who wish to run gambling establishments in Torbay, of the guiding principles that will direct the Council in making its licensing decisions, as well as the issues that applicants will need to consider when making an application. It lays out the way in which licences will be issued, the role and influence of representations as well as how the Council will communicate with others and undertake its enforcement role on the matters of gambling.
