You can pay your Business Rates online using your debit or credit card or use one of the following alternative methods:
Direct Debit
By far the most cost effective and efficient way for the Council to collect your money. It's also the easiest way for you to pay as - payments will be made on time, there is no need to complete new mandate if you change address and there is no need to cancel your direct debit at the end of the year. A Direct Debit Mandate is included on the reverse of your bill, or we can send you a mandate or you can also dowload a copy below.
Debit or Credit Card
You can pay using your debit or credit card in the following ways:
Please note: A charge of 2% is payable on credit card payments made against Council Tax accounts. This charge does not apply to Debit Cards.
Cheque
By posting in the post box at any of the 3 Connections offices in the Bay, or send your cheque and account details to Torbay Council, Town Hall, Castle Circus, Torquay, TQ1 3DR (please enclose a S.A.E if you require a receipt).
Cash
You can make cash payments via the automated payment kiosk in Torquay Connections.
Standing Order
You will need to make arrangements annually with your bank, or when your circumstances change as the monthly instalments will vary. Please remember to quote your Business Rates reference number, as well as the Council's own bank details which are as follows:- National Westminster Bank, Castle Circus, Torquay; Sort Code - 55-70-01; Account 06040411; Name Torbay Council.
Post Office and Payzone Outlets
Payments can be made free of charge at these outlets. All you need is your most recent bill. Cheques should be made payable to “Post Offices Ltd”. Please allow four working days for the council to received payment.
Failure to pay your Business Rates by the dates required, may result in a Summons being issued to appear before the local Magistrates' Court. If full payment is then not received before the Court Date, the Ratepayer will incur a further £75.00 court costs.
