The Electoral Register is a list, compiled by all local authorities, of persons eligible to vote in elections within their authority's boundary, ours is the Borough of Torbay. The Electoral Registration officer has a statutory duty to compile this each year. The register is a public document and is available to view at any of the three Connections offices or the town libraries
In order to be eligible to register to vote you must be a citizen of Britain, a commonwealth country, the Republic of Ireland or another European Union State. You must also be 18 years of age or about to become 18 whilst the register is in force.
You can obtain a registration form from any of the Connections office or you can register online.
The electoral register is published every year at the latest by 1st December and is active until 30th November the following year. However, monthly updates are produced in addition to this where your name will appear within 4 weeks of application unless where an Election is due this length of time is increased.
After the register is published, we will publish a monthly update report. If your name is not included in the register you may apply to be added by completing an application form or registering online.
Yes, the current copy for Torbay is available for viewing in the three Connections Offices and at local libraries.
The Electoral Register is a public document available for everyone to view. It is printed in address order with the name of the registered people at those addresses. With the Data Protection Act, we are unable to disclose individuals personal details, this includes enquiry by name. However, the Electoral Registration Officer can forward an addressed letter to the person you wish to contact if they appear on the Electoral Register.
