1. What happens if I change address while the Home Office is considering my application?

   
   
   You should contact the Home Office in writing, giving your reference number. They will change your Register Office in line with your new postcode. If you do not wish to change local authority you must state this in your letter.  The Home Office cannot accept changes of address over the telephone.

2. Where will my ceremony be held?

   
   
   Your local Register Office will tell you where the ceremony will take place at the time you book.

3. What should I do if I do not want to be part of a group ceremony?

   
   
   If you do not want to take part in a group ceremony you can ask the Register Office for an individual citizenship ceremony. You should do this when you book. There will be an additional fee for this service at Torbay Register Office.

4. Do I have to pay for my citizenship ceremony?

   
   
   Unless you have asked for an individual ceremony there is no additional fee to pay.

5. What happens if I cannot attend a ceremony?

   
   
   If you cannot attend a ceremony within 11 weeks of receiving your invitation, we may withdraw your invitation. You would then need to apply again with the full fee. You should let the Register Office know as soon as possible if you cannot attend a ceremony.

6. What will happen to my children's certificates if I do not attend a ceremony?

   
   
   The Home Office will send the certificates of any children whose parents do not attend a ceremony to the address on the application form.

7. What happens if I notice a mistake on my citizenship certificate after the ceremony?

   
   
   If the personal details you gave the Home Office do not appear correctly on your certificate, you should return it to the Home Office. You should explain the mistake and enclose evidence to support what you say. The Home Office normally wants to see official documents as evidence. If the mistake is yours, they may not be able to change it.
