Early Years

Welcome to Torbay Council’s Early Years, Play and Childcare Service.  This service is responsible for implementing the Government’s ten-year strategy for childcare. The strategy has been developed in the context of the Every Child Matters agenda, the 2006 Childcare Act and the National Childcare Strategy.

To summarise, the Early Years and Childcare Service is committed to ensuring that children and families in Torbay have maximum choice and access to a range of high quality early years, after school and out-of-school childcare provision.

This site provides a clear route for parents and carers who wish to find out more about Early Years services, ranging from childcare to Children’s Centres.  A clear route is also provided for childcare providers, who will be looking for a different set of information on topics such as jobs and training.
