Private Hire Taxi Operators Licence

If a person wishes to take bookings for a Private Hire Vehicle, or pass bookings to another operator, it will be necessary to obtain a Private Hire Operators Licence.

The application will require the submission of information on all people involved with running the business and details must be provided of the address through which the business will be conducted. Off-Street parking must be available at these premises for all vehicles operating under the Licence.

There is a requirement to keep records of all bookings, which must be made available to Council Enforcement Officers for inspection.

It may be necessary to obtain appropriate Planning Consent for the use of a domestic or commercial property for this purpose.

Fees

Failure to keep an appointment for a CRB check or for a renewal appointment (vehicle or driver) without 1 days prior notice will incur an administrative charge equivalent to the cost of the CRB check.
