The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018 helps to protect individuals’ privacy by regulating the way personal data is processed. The legislation gives you, as an individual, certain rights in relation to the personal data which is held about you.

Personal data includes any information that may identify a living individual.

To carry out council services efficiently it is necessary for us to process personal data about our service users whether on paper or in electronic form. We are what is known as a Data Controller for the personal data we hold about the people who use our services.

We ensure that staff receive regular training to ensure that we protect the information we hold and process about you.
