The Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (DASV) Strategy for Torbay is under review for 2018-2022 and as part of the process this has now been published for consultation. The Strategy sets out a multi-agency approach to prevention and early intervention, protection of children and young people, provision of support and protection and justice and has been developed following a mapping exercise conducted across statutory agencies, commissioned services, voluntary organisations and those who use services.

Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence can be experienced by anyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or ability and those living with DASV are often very reluctant to report it or seek help for a number of reasons. As a result, whilst the Strategy quotes the numbers of individuals who have been referred to the local commissioned support service, we can only estimate the numbers of people who do not report but who may be affected by DASV.
