The Regulation 25 Draft Core Strategy and its related Sustainability Appraisal which were recently out for consultation, along with the relevant leaflets are still available to view via the Related Documents at the bottom of this page or by visiting our Limehouse Consultation opens in a new window page.  Alternatively, reference copies are still available at the Council's Libraries, Connections Offices and at Roebuck House, Torquay.
The Strategic Planning Group will be considering comments over the next few months. Comments will then be available to view online on the Limehouse Consultation page (link above).

Background to the Core Strategy

The Core Strategy is the part of the Local Development Framework that sets out the broad aims and objectives for sustainable development in Torbay over the next 15-20 years.  It outlines how the Council will deliver strategic development needs including housing, employment, leisure and retail.  The Core Strategy will provide a framework for meeting the priorities of the Community Plan and Mayor's vision, where these involve the use of land.

Current Stage within the Planning Process

The Vision, Objectives and Options for Growth in Torbay was published for consultation between Monday 14th September and Friday 6th November 2009.  (Please note that the end date was extended from the original date of Friday 23rd October).  This set out a proposed vision and objectives.  It also looked at five possible spatial approaches to growth.  This was a "Regulation 25" issues and options consultation version.

Sustainability Appraisal

It is essential that in deciding on which option is the most appropriate, consideration is given to the sustainability implications of each option.  It is for this purpose that a brief sustainability appraisal has been compiled which outlines some of the key sustainability issues associated with each option.
