This year that there will be a new funding programme of £10,000 for young people and their supporting organisations to apply for up to £500 to provide social action projects.

This pot provided funding for groups working with young people aged 11 to 19 years (and up to 25 years for young people with disabilities), for them to take part in projects and activities that promote or involve:

  • Volunteering
  • Fundraising that will benefit the community
  • Campaigning

Social action enables young people to be actively involved in their community. The maximum amount for any group to apply for at any one time was £500, the minimum was £50.00.


Following a short listing process (by members of the funding panel), the bids will be judged by a panel of community and voluntary sector members and young people. All groups that meet all four of the essential criteria below in some way will be shortlisted:

  • Young People feel supported and safe
  • That Young People’s engagement, development and voices are central to this
  • That Young people are involved in their community and their neighbourhoods
  • The project works with young people aged 11 to 25 years

Time frames

  • Round 1 deadline - 27 May 2016
  • Round 2 deadline - 1 July 2016
  • Round 3 if any funding is left in the pot - 30 September 2016
